Stochastic Climate Simulator

Part of the Lillywhite water technology platform. Generates multi-year synthetic daily and hourly weather (temperature and precipitation) for use in GoldSim and other hydrologic models.

The weather model replicates the methods of CLIGEN, the USDA stochastic climate generator, with calibrated bias correction applied to the historical record.

Historical records are public-domain GHCN-D data provided by NOAA, for use in historical modeling and analysis at your own risk. Station tracking metadata is refreshed weekly, while individual daily time-series records are fetched live directly from NOAA upon request.

Built with

  • Rust compiled to WebAssembly (in-browser simulation engine)
  • Alpine.js (interface)
  • Chart.js (charts)
  • Leaflet with Esri street tiles (maps)

Upload your own record

Have your own daily weather record? Upload a CSV, TXT, or XLSX file with a date column plus precipitation (PRCP) and/or temperature (TMAX, TMIN) columns to run the same analysis.

CLIGEN parameters

Fit CLIGEN weather-generator parameters to the historical record. Choose the window of the record you want the parameters fitted over, then generate.

Tip: pick a station on the data source tab (or upload a record above) first.

Temperature parameters

Run a CLIGEN simulation

Generate a synthetic weather sequence (daily or sub-daily). If you generated parameters on the previous tab they are used automatically; otherwise sensible defaults let the simulation run regardless.
